Helio 基因枪是一种方便的手提式设备，可对细胞进行快速直接的原位基因转移。该系统通过可调节的氦气脉冲，来带动位于小塑料管内壁处预包有DNA、RNA 或其它生物材料的金粉颗粒，将其直接打入细胞内部。使用样品管制备站可很容易地制备管内 “子弹”。

颗粒轰击用于体外和体内基因转移的优点

样品导入。氦脉冲推动位于样品管内壁处预包有DNA、RNA 的金粉颗粒。枪管形状帮助增加微粒载体的速度，使它们穿透靶细胞；微粒载体散布，使它们能接触到更大面积的细胞；将氦气脉冲扩散以减少对靶细胞的损害。隔离器可保持的靶距离，使靶细胞远离氦气以减少细胞表面损伤。

Helios 基因枪系统。系统包括基因枪、样品管制备站和样品管切割仪（见图）和一个特殊的氦气阀、软管装配和一个带有足以制备 1,000 个样品的材料的优化组合套件（不包括压缩气体、低压氮气阀和核酸）。
